Proverb for the Day

"These six things the Lord hates,
Yes seven are an abomination to Him. . .
A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren."
--Proverbs 6:16, 19

Did you realize that not only is lying a sin, but it is an abomination to God? I know just the fact that it is a sin should stop us from doing it, but knowing it is an abomination to Him makes me feel even worse when I do it.

It is wrong for us to tell lies, especially about someone else. If we don't know all the facts, then we shouldn't say anything at all because we may be telling a lie and not even realize it. People change, life changes and what we "knew" to be true last week, last month, last year or whatever, may no longer be true when we are telling someone about how someone "is". When we tell these lies about people, it is sowing "discord among brethren."

Let us be careful what we say about someone else so that we are not guilty of speaking lies, sowing discord, and thereby indulging in an abomination to the God.
