My Word for 2020

I first want to apologize for not being active for the past few months. Life got crazy (our oldest daughter got engaged, anniversary trip, MIL got engaged, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all of regular life). I am not promising to be as active as I had been with posting multiple times a week, but I do want to get back to posting at least once a week.

That being said, I wanted to share my word for 2020. I prayed about this for 2 weeks before God finally spoke to me and laid it on my heart.

Ephesians 4:1 KJV
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called

Walk.

There is so much in that little word. It is the Greek word peripateo which means:

to walk, to make one's way, progress, to make due use of opportunities, to regulate one's life, to conduct one's self, to pass one's life.

In Hebrew it means to live.

I am to live for Christ! I am to make use of the opportunities He has given me. I am to conduct my life as He has called me to live. I am to walk knowing who I am in Him.

I need to walk my talk.

Every year I like to create a coloring page with the verse that I hang on my wall by my bed to remind me every day. You are more than welcome to download it and use it yourself if you like.

This time of year will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our son Gordon was born just days before Chad's dad, Gordon, passed. Truly, there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven!

Why Do We Pray Before We Eat?

John 6:11
And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

Jewish children are taught that not giving thanks for their food was equal to stealing from God. Food is a gift from God; therefore, we must give thanks before we partake of the gift He has given us!

This is another journal entry I came across from years ago. How pertinent it is right now as we are eating from the harvest of our garden. Not all of our children appreciate squash, but this is what I tell them every year.

Clutter of the Heart

I was putting something away and found an old journal of mine from early 2014. I started flipping through it and came across an entry that caught my attention because I had complained about the same thing just a week or so ago while talking with a friend.

"Yesterday did not go well. We have too much "stuff" in this house and in our hearts. I struggle to teach the girls contentment when I struggle with it myself. I feel suffocated by the clutter and mess and I found myself giving up instead of dealing with it. The younger girls seem selfish and spoiled. They need more responsibility and I need to be better at accountability.

I feel Satan is prevailing at the moment. I need to focus more on our blessings than all the things that have gone wrong. What we had isn't ours to begin with."

If we are in debt, we are to work as if our lives depended on it to get out of debt. The truth is, our lives DO depend on it! We are slaves to debt because we must work to pay it back. Set yourself free!

Denying Christ

Mark 14:26-31 KJV
26 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. 27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. 28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. 29 But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. 30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. 31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
We often chide Peter for denying Christ right after saying he wouldn't. However, what I didn't notice until this morning as I read was that "Likewise also said they all."

They all said they would die before denying Christ, yet we don't  hear about any of them being with Christ through all that followed. In fact, they all "forsook him, and fled." (vs. 50).

I would love to say that if I had a gun to my head that I wouldn't deny Christ, but if these men who walked with Christ were weak, what makes me so different?

I pray that the Holy Spirit living in me gives me the strength and boldness to declare Christ as my Lord if a time like that ever arises.

Words of Wisdom Wednesdays


Proverbs 5:19
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

When I read this, I look at how God is calling me to live in my role as a wife.

If my husband is to be satisfied and ravished, then I must be loving and pleasant. I can not just do enough to "get by", but I must lavish him with love. I must not deprive him of my body or my love.

This also makes me thing about how men feel loved-by being respected. I must show respect to my husband if he is to truly be ravished with my love.

By keeping your focus on the end goal and not getting distracted by what is happening beside or behind you. It is the same with life.

We must keep our eyes on God, His Words, His commands. We must not get distracted with what the world is doing.

Testimony Tuesday


For years I have been suffering from a number of health issues. Most are things that I never talked about with anyone other than my family and closest friends. However, as a busy, homeschooling mama, I didn't make my own health a priority. Money was tight as we raised our large family on my husband's income (sometimes from three jobs) so we chose to do what absolutely needed to be done for the children first.
Four years ago I saw my friend, Sally, posting about Plexus and how it was helping her and others feel better and get healthier. I looked into it then, but when I saw stevia listed as one of the ingredients, I dismissed it due to the fact that my nursing baby at the time reacted poorly to stevia. By the time I finished nursing her, money was just way too tight to even consider it. Fast forward to just over a year ago and my health had continued to get worse and I knew something had to be done.  Sally had continued to share testimonies about people whose lives had been changed by Plexus.

I approached my husband with an idea-if I sold some things from around the house, could I use that money to try Plexus. He agreed that if I sold enough to cover it, then, yes, I could give it a try. Within a few days, I realized I wasn't taking my daily afternoon naps anymore. After a few more days, I realized that I was going to the bathroom regularly (which hadn't happened in years). It was then that I knew I needed to stay on these products!

I started sharing about how Plexus was helping me and my mother and a friend joined me on my journey. That gave me enough money to cover the next month's supplements. I continued to share and not only have been able to pay for my own supplements, but my husband is enjoying Plexus, too, as well as some of my children enjoying the XFactor for Kids all because of my Plexus business.

I can now confidently say that I am another person whose life has been changed by Plexus. My health is getting better, my family's health is getting better, and it is financially helping us accomplish that.

Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Mark 8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

At the beginning of this year, John Maxwell shared a video about five things to do if you want to have a better. Guess what?! It follows what these passages express!

More Than We Can Comprehend

God loves us more than we can comprehend. 

Even though we fail daily at following His commands, He loves us and forgives us. He welcomes us with open arms and comforts us. 

I cannot fathom the kind of love that sends a perfect Son to the cross for a wretch like me. However, that is the love God has for us!

Please know God loves you and cares for you more than you can ever imagine!

Be a Friend

My husband and I were discussing with our girls about having friends. One of them was complaining that she didn't really have any friends. So, we discussed the importance of being friendly to others if you expect the same back.

A few scriptures that come to mind that deal with this very topic are:

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly

Love is not something that you fall into or out of. Love is a choice. Love is an action, not a feeling.

John 15:12, "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."

How did Christ love? 

He loved with actions. 

He had compassion on people. He healed people. He provided for their needs. 



Choose to love today. Put feet to your love and actively participate!

Happy Independence Day!





In Congress, July 4, 1776.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences
For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. What Men and Women Thought Each Other Knew

Somehow I came across some YouTube videos by Priscilla Shrier about What Men Wished Women Knew which led me to also find What Women Wished Men Knew. Both are two parts and I listened to them both and then thought it would be good for my husband to listen to them as well. So, we spent our date night listening to them and discussing what we heard. It was a great way to open communication between us and helped us open up.

What I liked about these, is there is also a single man and a single woman on the panels so they are helpful for all.

I thought that these might be helpful for others as well.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday


Proverbs 3:16-18 KJV 
16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Most people want to live the "American Dream". They spend their lives trying to figure out how to achieve it when the way to do it is found right here.

Wisdom (her) will help you live a long life. It will help you gain riches and honour. You will be happy following her ways and shall lead a peaceful life.

Now, how do we get this wisdom? Look back at Proverbs 2:6, "For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding." Seek the Lord, His Words, and His Ways and you will gain wisdom.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday


Proverbs 2:10-12 KJV
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: 12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

It isn't until we seek the Lord and the wisdom that only comes from Him (Proverbs 2:6, For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.) that we will reap the benefits. We must desire wisdom, knowledge, and understanding and make it a part of our life and hide it in our hearts before we can be preserved. Following His commands will keep us from falling in line with the evil one.

God's Timing is Perfect

John 15:5
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
"for without me, ye can do nothing"

This I know, yet I often find myself trying to do things on my own, in my own strength. Why am I so stubborn?

I have had many questions lately and although I would go to God in prayer seeking the answers, I was still spending many hours a day trying to figure out the answers myself. What a waste of time!

I now realize that what I should have been doing is spending more time with Him in study, prayer, and just being still so I could hear Him. It's ironic that I thought I didn't have the time because I was spending my time trying to figure it out on my own.

Give Him your time and He will work out the details!

The Wisdom of God, part 4

Romans 12:16b
Be not wise in your own conceits.

Another way I see people dismiss God's wisdom doesn't seem like a big deal to many, but it can speak volumes. This is through changing our looks.

I am asked multiple times a year by different people why I don't color my hair or wear makeup (which I will wear occasionally, but not very often). One reason is because I don't see the need to stress our budget on those things, but another is because why would I want to change how God made me?

I think back to when I was younger and I would dye my hair or change my eye color using contacts and remember it was because I didn't like how I looked; I was craving acceptance from the world instead of resting in who God created me to be.

God gave me dark, brown hair. Do I truly think that changing it to another color is going to change me? No! I now have gray hair. Is covering that up going to make me younger? No! Why not embrace who God made me to be and the wisdom I've gained from living these years that brought on the gray hair?

Remembering Grandpa

My husband and I had been discussing about how we don't feel any of us really processed the loss of his father since his passing back in October. We decided to have a time of all of us sharing our favorite memories of Grandpa as well as how it makes us feel that he is no longer with us. It was a good time of sharing happy memories. We laughed. We cried. It was helpful.

Although it has helped, I still don't think we have fully mourned his loss. Our family has a tendency to bottle up emotions so we still have some digging to do.

This time of sharing did remind me, however, of a poem that I had thought about sharing back in October but never got around to sharing. Our third born shared a birthday with Grandpa, therefore, had a special connection with him. She is also our child who likes to express herself through writing. She wrote this beautiful poem and read it at the funeral.


"The Grandpa in My Heart"

On a day lovingly chosen,
A blessing was brought to life,
Who blessed his God given family,
And later his children and wife.
Six decades and nine years later,
I took my very first breath,
My heart was filled with love for him,
To give abundantly, until his death.
And even after he leaves me,
To live with Love, in a place so fair,
For him, there will be a place in my heart,
A place so exquisite and rare.
I will always remember his legacy,

Words of Wisdom Wednesday

Proverbs 31:9
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

As I read this verse, my mind went immediately to the issue of abortion.

Many people talk about a woman's choice of the child in the womb? Is not that child "the poor and needy"? That child needs someone to plead his cause. We cannot stand silently by and allow precious lives to be destroyed. This also goes for the handicapped and elderly. We must plead their cause!

Although I wrote this months ago, it is ever true now in light of what has passed in New York and other states. We must open our mouths and plead for the unborn!

Transformation Tuesday

I have been enjoying Plexus since the end of April 2018. While I have seen many benefits, I was pregnant when I started taking it and have been nursing since my son was born so I didn't realize the full extent of what the benefits are of balancing hormones.

My cycles usually return between three and five months regardless of the fact that I exclusively breastfeed. Well, I am happy to say that my flow has been drastically less than it was in the past. In fact, I think it has been at least 10 years since I've had a normal flow during my cycles. Usually I am on many herbs trying to balance my hormones because the flow is so heavy that I am scared to even leave the house.

I can not even express how excited I am about this benefit!

I am also aware that my hormones overall are balanced because I don't have the ups and downs I used to experience. I am doing better at keeping calm at times that used to send me into a tailspin. I have also noticed that my anxiety levels are way down.

Testimony Tuesday

Today's testimony is another one of how God provides.


Since the baby was born, we had been thinking about what we wanted to do when he grew too big for the bassinet.

We had considered having the 2 year old share a twin bed with the 3 year old. We have transitioned to twin beds out of the crib for the past eight children and since we really didn't have room for another twin, we figured the two of them could share (the twins shared when they transitioned out of a crib). If we did this, then the baby could move into the crib. Unfortunately, there were a few problems with this. 1. The baby still wakes at night and he would then be in another room. 2. The other children may wake him up during naps, at night, etc. and 3. The 2 year old wasn't adjusting well to sleeping with her sister (we did a trial time).

Another option was to keep the 2 year old in the crib and put the baby in a pack-n-play in our room. This wasn't ideal because it would mean leaning over so far to put the baby in and take him out as well as the loss of storage space because you can't store anything under a pack-n-play.

A third option was to put a twin back under the lofted bed (the crib has been under the loft) and move the crib to our room. The issue with this is that we would have to buy a twin mattress and we would lose some storage space (we store things around the crib under the loft).

A fourth option came to mind two weeks ago. We could try to find a toddler bed and mattress to put where the crib used to be and move the crib into our room. This seemed like the best option since I was sure I could find a toddler bed and mattress for less than or equal to a twin bed and it would still allow us to keep our storage space.

I posted on my personal facebook page that I was looking for a toddler bed and mattress. I hadn't been successful looking at local sale pages to find anything in our price range in our area. God worked through our friends to provide for us! One friend had an extra crib mattress and another friend had an extra toddler bed. They both gave them to us! What a blessing! The one friend also gave us an entire tote of clothes for the baby ranging from 6/9 months up to 3T!

People often ask us how we can afford to raise a large family with just my husband working. This is how! God provides above our imaginations!

Testimony Tuesday

For the past month, I have been able to use almost all of my Plexus supplements again. I am taking Slim, BioCleanse, Ease, and VitalBiome (ProBio5 still upsets Gordon's tummy so I'm not taking that yet) and have added Xfactor Plus and the Lean Whey. I usually have a Lean shake 3-4 times a week. I have also been more focused on making sure I drink enough water every day. I am happy to report that I lost 6 lbs last month!

I have yet to start an exercise regimen because the times I have figured I would start, something would happen such as the baby being up a lot the night before, a child being sick and/or myself being sick. I do plan to start something, however. My neighbor and I have discussed walking together, but then the Polar Vortex hit and we weren't about to go walking in 20 below weather (with wind chills even lower!).

Testimony Tuesday

My husband and I have seen God provide for us time and time again. I am not sure why we still never let us down.

I want to share with you a recent example of His provision.

We did were not expecting to purchase a vehicle anytime soon as all of our vehicles were running and we have been striving to get out of debt so we were just planning on making due with what we had. Our oldest daughter already had a car and even our second oldest found a car and has it running and she doesn't even have a license yet.

Anyway, my husband called me just over a week ago and told me he had purchased a vehicle! To say I was shocked is an understatement! When I asked why, he told me, "The price was right and I had the cash to pay for it." He even admitted he wasn't sure why God would provide this vehicle and such a great price, but He did. The vehicle needed some work, but we figured with just a few hundred dollars, it would be running and we had a few ideas of who might use it.

Well, come to find out, the fix was MUCH easier and MUCH cheaper than even he suspected. He had it up and running over the weekend. We plated it and insured it and figured it would save him money to drive that back and forth to work and it would leave me with the vehicle he had been driving for my errands so I didn't have to drive our bus (which doesn't has very good fuel economy). Well, God then showed us the reason for his provision! The vehicle that I was now driving broke down. Had he still been driving that back and forth to work, he would have been without a vehicle and would have had to drive the bus every day.

Granted, he can fix the vehicle, but while we are waiting for the parts to arrive and the time to fix it, he still has something to drive to work and I am just back to driving the bus.

I think that sometimes people don't think about things like this being a provision because it was provided before the need arose, but that is exactly what it is!
