If It Offends

Matthew 5:29-30 KJV
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. 30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

I think we  can all agree that if something is harmful, we should get rid of it. However, when it comes to a part of our body, we tend to be a little lenient on the issue. What we need to remember is that it is better to lose a small part of our body instead of our whole life. Our souls are much more important than our physical bodies and if we can not control a part of our body from affecting us spiritually, it is better to rid ourselves of the body part. It may seem extreme, but our souls are worth it.

Sacrifice of Thanksgiving

As I was reading Psalm 116, I was struck by verse 17.

I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

What exactly is a sacrifice of Thanksgiving?

In the old testament times, there literally was a sacrifice performed called the thanks offering.

Leviticus 7:12-13
12 If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried. 13 Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offering leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offerings.

However, what does a sacrifice of thanksgiving look like today?

I would love your input on this. Please comment below and share your thoughts.
