Persevere!

Nehemiah 6:15-19 KJV
15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days. 16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God. 17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them. 18 For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah. 19 Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.

Although people continued to spread gossip about Nehemiah and the Israelites, and even though Nehemiah continued to receive threatening letters, Nehemiah did not stop working on the wall.

He continued in the Lord's work despite the opposition. And guess what?! God blessed the work of their hands! They finished the wall. And not only did they finish it, they did it in only 52 days!

This was not a small wall. This wall surrounded the entire city of Jerusalem. Since that wall no longer stands, I can't give you exact measurements, but we do know that Jerusalem encompassed approximately 135 acres. Also, some historians believe Nehemiah repaired Hezekiah's wall which archaeologists have discovered and have found that it is approximately 16.4 feet wide.

The fact they accomplished repairing this entire wall in only 52 days is amazing-only God could do it amazing! IN fact, even the heathens know it had been done by God's hands!

What can we learn from this? If it is truly God's work and in His will, it will succeed and it will be truly amazing. Don't give up! Don't allow the threats of the world to stop you from His work! Persevere!
