Beginning of Knowledge

Proverbs 1:7 

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:22 

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

One goal many people have is to become wise; however, they think they can attain wisdom outside of God. They will fail. Fearing God (respect, reverence, awe) is the only place to start. He created this world and everything in it so it only makes sense to start by studying Him and His Word.

How long will people try to do it by themselves? How long will they ignore true knowledge? Unfortunately, many people take delight in thinking they are wise and know "better" than God. They have no respect for God when they think they can do things better than how He created them. In the end (if not before), they will realize their foolishness. It all starts with Him!
