Proverbs 21:14
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
It is much better to give a gift without the expectation of a gift in return. Most often, other people will now if you re giving because you want to or because you feel obligated. It is a matter of the heart. It is joyful to both parties when the gift is given out of love.
