James 1:21-25
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed
We are called to put away our old self (filthiness and naughtiness) and accept Christ (the Word) as He is the only way to salvation. Once we do that, we need to put into practice what He says. It is not good enough to just hear or read HIs Word; we must live it!
If we are not doing God's Word, then we are missing out on blessings. If we hear the law (His Word) and abide (continueth) in it, then we will be blessed. God didn't give us His law to punish us or restrict us, but to protect and free us.
To truly experience all He has for us, we must be doers.
Romans 2:13
(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
To truly be His child, we must be doers.
Matthew 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
We must walk our talk!
