The Power of God

In the King James Version of the Bible, the words, "the power of God" are only used eleven times. Most of the time, it is directly speaking of the power God holds; however, a few times it speaks directly of Christ (in the other instances it could be interpreted as both the power He holds as well as Christ himself). What is interesting, is that twice, it specifically calls the gospel the power of God.

The gospel message, Christ coming to earth, living a sinless life, dying for our sins, and rising again, IS the power of God!

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

1 Corinthians1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

What this makes me realize is that the gospel message is not just for unbelievers. Yes, unbelievers need to hear the good news of the gospel, but so do believers.

I don't know about you, but I desire to experience the power of God!

I just started reading A Gospel Primer for Christians by Milton Vincent (which is where I first read about the power of God). I have a feeling this book is going to be a life changer for me!

I purchased my copy of A Gospel Primer for Christians at Thriftbooks for less than $4. You can get 15% off your first order by using the link. Thriftbooks offer many great books at great prices.
